Fingerstyle guitarist Bill Mize will perform at 7:30 p.m. today at The Joint, 301 Main St., in North Little Rock's Argenta Arts District, part of the Argenta Arts Foundation's Argenta Arts Acoustic Music Series. Mize won a Grammy Award for his collaboration with musician/storyteller David Holt on the recording Stellaluna, and has been featured on two guitar compilations, Windham Hill Guitar Sampler on Windham Hill Records and Masters of the Acoustic Guitar on Narada Records.

Gospel benefit

Malcolm Allen of Little Rock, a top 30 contestant in Season 13 of American Idol, will headline a gospel concert, 7 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant View Ministries, 1117 N. Palm St., Pine Bluff. Also performing: Voices of Heaven, the PVM Praise Dancers and Byron & Company, all of Pine Bluff, and the Sensational Hearts of Star City. Admission is free; an offering will be taken. 'Cyclical' documentary

Hot Springs Village's "Basecamp's 100 Days of Summer" film series, "Reels and Grills," will screen Jeremy Grant's documentary Where the Trail Ends, following top free-ride mountain bikers as they search for untraveled terrain around the globe, at dark (roughly 8 p.m.) Friday at Grove Park, 1105 DeSoto Blvd., Hot Springs Village. The film series is offered under the auspices of Hot Springs Village and the Hot Springs Documentary Film Institute.

Admission is free; lawn chairs and blankets are OK but no coolers. Louis Williams of Next Level Barbecue and the "Ronin Chef," T. Porter Montgomery, will be selling barbecue fusion sandwiches (including Reubens, Cubanos and Porter's signature "Hamsfire" pulled pork) and classic barbecue ($7-$10).
