Heather Lauren Gay Michael Ryan Poppy

Heather Lauren Gay and Michael Ryan Poppy were united in marriage at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, in Christian Valley Christian Church, Jonesboro. Mitch Ford officiated.

Parents of the bride are Donna Casteel of Newport and Leslie and John Gay of Jonesboro. She is the granddaughter of Frances and Harold (Sarge) Gay and Brenda and John Casteel, all of Newport, and Brenda and Fred Dacus of Jonesboro.

Susan and Freddie Poppy of North Little Rock are the parents of the groom. He is the grandson of Sylvia and the late Bill Parker and the late Betty Poppy, all also of North Little Rock.

The chancel held an arrangement of red amaranthus, eucalyptus, fuchsia roses and gladiolus. Music was by pianist and vocalist Cassie Ferrell and vocalist and guitarist Stefan Simons.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a mermaid-style gown with an overlay of English netting embroidered with a floral design. The strapless bodice had a beaded illusion back and the skirt extended to a chapel train. She carried a bouquet of fuchsia garden roses, purple alstroemeria, red amaranthus, berries and greenery

Brooke Casteel of North Little Rock, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Veronica Holbrook and Nicole Martin, sister of the groom, both of Maumelle; Michelle Little of New York; Kimberly Street of Bryant; Ginny Moss of Casper, Wyo.; Chelsea Speaks of North Little Rock; and Mary Shannon Metrailer of Royal Oak, Mich. Junior bridesmaid was Lindsey Marlar of Newport, sister of the bride. They wore eggplant-colored knee-length dresses in a variety of styles embellished with floral lace. They carried bouquets similar to the bride's.

Flower girl and ring bearer were Skylit Casteel and Cruz Casteel, both of Newport, and cousins of the bride.

The father of the groom served as best man. Groomsmen were Andy Martin of Maumelle; David Olson of Tulsa; Michael Hyde of Conway; Scott Hudgins of Searcy; and Matt Miller and Justin Higgs, both of North Little Rock. Guests were seated by Clay Marlar and Daniel Marlar of Newport, Zach Hatley-Gay, John Gay Jr. and Matthew Gay, all of Jonesboro and brothers of the bride.

A reception at The Silos in Bono followed the ceremony. Tables were decorated with gold vases filled with fuchsia roses, purple alstroemeria, bells of Ireland, eucalyptus and berries. Music was by Big John Miller Band. Assisting were Blair Keller of Stuttgart and Kimberly Rhodes of Maumelle.

The bride has a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and is a registered nurse in the cardiovascular intensive care unit at Arkansas Children's Hospital.

The groom graduated with a bachelor's degree in nursing from UAMS. He is studying for a master's degree in nursing for Family Practice at Walden University Online. He is a registered nurse in the emergency room at Baptist Health Little Rock.

The couple will make their home in Sherwood after a honeymoon in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.
