Speech will focus on fallen brother

Emily Reeves, whose younger brother was killed aboard a helicopter that was shot down in Afghanistan on Aug. 6, 2011, will speak Friday at the Clinton School of Public Service.

Reeves wrote letters to her brother, who was on SEAL Team Six, and she turned those notes into a short memoir recounting the events of August 2011 and how she and her father endured them. The memoir covers how she learned the news, the transfer of remains, the memorial service, the burial at sea, an earthquake, a hurricane, multiple funeral services for other men from the helicopter and all the memories these events stirred up.

She is the director of digital innovation and insight planning at Stone Ward.

Seats for the noon lecture in Sturgis Hall can be reserved by emailing publicprograms@clintonschool.uasys.edu or calling (501) 683-5239.
