Pokey LaFarge will return for series at South on Main

Pokey LaFarge will return for another concert at 8 p.m. today at South on Main. Tickets, if any become available, range in price from $17 to $25.

LaFarge, whose first show at the club was Oct. 12, 2013, is a St. Louis musician who is kicking off the club's 2015-2016 concert series as part of the Archetypes & Troubadours sub-series. LaFarge, who once toured and played mandolin with The Hackensaw Boys, also toured and recorded with Jack White.

He has released seven albums, the latest of which, Something in the Water, came out April 7 on Rounder Records. A singer-songwriter-multi-instrumentalist, he is known for a sound that blends ragtime, Western swing, jazz and country blues.

The Suffers will perform at 8:30 p.m. today at Stickyz Rock 'n' Roll Chicken Shack. Cover charge is $10. Lead singer Kam Franklin leads the 10-piece Houston soul/rhythm and blues band, leading to comparisons with Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings.

Randall Shreve & The Devilles will host a CD release party at 9 p.m. Friday. Admission is $8.

Motel Mirrors will play at 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $7. The Memphis-area band consists of Amy LaVere, John Paul Keith and LaVere's husband, Will Sexton.

A rare Sunday show at the club will feature Cajun band Kyle Huval & The Dixie Club Ramblers at 6 p.m. Special guest Joel Savoy will sit in on fiddle with the Eunice, La., band. The show is free; donations for the band will be accepted. Nick Castleberry will be grilling outside, and potluck style food is welcome.

Aranda will perform at 9 p.m. today at Juanita's. Admission is $12.

Aranda is a band from Oklahoma City, formed by brothers Dameon and Gabe Aranda. The group formed in 2001 and has released three albums, the latest of which, Not the Same, reached the No. 12 position this year on the Billboard Heatseekers Album Chart.

Failure Anthem will perform at 8 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $8.
