Pedestrian in LR hit-and-run dies; driver sought

The pedestrian initially reported as being in critical condition after a hit-and-run in Little Rock on Friday has since died, authorities said.

Little Rock police received a report of an accident at North Rodney Parham Road and Old Forge Drive at a Shell convenience store about 12:10 p.m. Friday involving a pedestrian, whose name and age have not been released.

Witnesses said a white van with green lettering traveling south on Old Forge Drive drove through the parking lot of the Shell in an attempt to go west on Rodney Parham Road when it struck the pedestrian walking on a sidewalk, according to a statement.

The victim traveled "several feet" before coming to a stop, authorities said. The driver of the white van, described as a "heavy-set" white man in his mid-20s, then fled the scene.

Little Rock police said they have identified a person of interest in the case who matches that description, though no arrests had been made as of Friday afternoon.

A vehicle has been impounded as part of the investigation, authorities said.
