LR road work to require traffic shifts next week

Continued work on highways in Little Rock will result in traffic shifts next week, the state Highway and Transportation Department said Friday.

Sign and barrier wall installation at Interstate 430 will require overnight lane closures beginning Monday.

Southbound lanes on Interstate 430 will be shifted toward the outside shoulder from the Arkansas River Bridge to the Arkansas 10 interchange, according to a statement.

According to highway officials, the work will require alternately closing inside and outside lanes on I-430 for traffic between mile markers 9 and 10 in both directions.

The nightly lane closures will be from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. Monday-Thursday.

A routine inspection of the Arkansas River Bridge will also require northbound and southbound lane closures on I-430 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Pavement repair on the I-430/630 Big Rock Interchange will require the closing of westbound lanes at Shackleford Road next week.

Officials said westbound drivers on I-630 will be routed through the traffic light at Shackleford Road nightly from 8 p.m.-5 a.m. starting Tuesday, according to a statement. The closures will continue through Friday.

Repair work throughout the interchange will also result in brief lane closures from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. daily next week.
