13 state airports to split $8.5M from FAA

Thirteen Arkansas airports will receive a combined $8.5 million in federal funding to support infrastructure improvements, members of the state congressional delegation said Monday.

U.S. Sens. John Boozman and Tom Cotton along with U.S. Reps. Rick Crawford, French Hill, Steve Womack and Bruce Westerman, all Republicans, said in a joint statement that 13 airports will split the money from the Federal Aviation Administration to help fund facility upgrades and expansions.

Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport in Bentonville will receive the largest amount — $3,498,120 — to expand its apron by 11,000 square yards to meet FAA design standards.

Rogers Municipal-Carter Field will receive $1,975,201, the second largest amount, to rehabilitate its apron.

Other airports receiving funding include Batesville Regional Airport, Bentonville Municipal/Louise M Thaden Field Airport, Z M Jack Stell Field, Memorial Field, Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport/Adams Field, North Little Rock Municipal Airport, Searcy County Airport, Bearce Airport, Osceola Municipal Airport, Piggott

Municipal Airport and West Memphis Municipal Airport.
