News came down last week that the Walton Family Foundation was losing its executive director soon. Buddy Philpot is stepping down.
Well, shucks. Those folks at the Walton Foundation have been doing good work--great work--for years. We especially like the idea of investing in that Home Region project, which puts money in programs and initiatives that improve life in these parts, specifically Northwest Arkansas and the Delta.
But one detail in the story stood out above the others:
In the 15 years Buddy Philpot has led the foundation, its annual grants have grown from $40 million a year to almost $400 million. That's a tenfold increase.
A job well done?
How about a job wow done.
Mr. Philpot, a tip of the hat, sir. No telling how many people are better off today because of the Walton Foundation, and your leadership.
