Motorcyclist, 57, killed after striking tree

A northeast Texas man was killed after his motorcycle left a wet road during rainy weather in Miller County earlier this month, according to Arkansas State Police.

Casey Jim Murray, 57, of Linden, Texas, was traveling north on Arkansas 237 at County Road 513 on Dec. 13 when he failed to negotiate a curve, causing his 2003 Yamaha motorcycle to leave the highway and strike a tree, state police said.

No approximate time for the crash was provided by authorities.

Murray was pronounced dead at the scene by Miller County Coroner Eddie Hawkins, according to state police.

According to preliminary figures, the death was the 497th in a traffic crash on an Arkansas roadway so far this year.
