In racing news around the nation, Callback won the $300,000 Las Virgenes Stakes for 3-year-old fillies by a half-length Saturday at Santa Anita for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert. Callback, ridden by Martin Garcia, ran a mile in 1:36.92 and paid $7.20, $5 and $4.40. She earned 10 points on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks standings to give her 14 points, second behind Take Charge Brandi, who has 40. ... The only race Saturday involving 3-year-old males with Kentucky Derby aspirations, the $200,000 Grade III Sam F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs, was won by Ocean Knight, who won by a neck over 28-1 long shot Divining Rod. Ocean Knight, a son of Curlin, is trained by Kiaran McLaughlin and was ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr. Time for the 1 1/16 miles was 1:43.74. No Road to the Derby points were awarded, but the next prep at Tampa Bay Downs, the Grade II Tampa Bay Derby on March 7, will award 50-20-10-5. ... Another race with Derby hopefuls but no Road to the Derby points is today's Grade I 7-furlong San Vicente Stakes at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif. Seven horses are expected to go to post, including Texas Red, whose last start was a 6 1/2-length victory in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile on Nov. 1 at Santa Anita. Texas Red is trained by Keith Desormeaux, and brother Kent Desormeaux has the ride. Trainer Bob Baffert has one entrant, Lord Nelson, who is coming off a fifth-place finish in the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes at Churchill Downs.
