A Faulkner County sheriff's deputy was grazed by a bullet while authorities served a warrant in a drug investigation early Tuesday morning at a Conway apartment.

Chief Deputy Matt Rice said a team including sheriff's deputies, Conway Police Department officers and members of the 20th Judicial District Drug Task Force were serving the warrant about 6 a.m. at 1230 Clifton St.

"When they got to the door, they were met with gunfire when the door came open," Rice said. He said he didn't know how many rounds were fired.

One deputy, who Rice declined to identify because he is a member of the task force which conducts undercover investigations, was grazed in the abdomen.

"It hit him, but it didn't go in," Rice said of the shot.

He was taken to Conway Regional Hospital, where he was treated for the wound and released. The deputy is now up and walking, Rice said.

Police did not return fire.

Two people in the apartment were arrested. Rice identified them as Cody Boose and Stephanie Fason, 34, of Enola, though he said he didn't have their specific charges yet.

Rice said Arkansas State Police were still investigating the shooting and his agency hadn't yet determined whether there were any drugs in the residence.
