Blytheville woman dies in house fire

BLYTHEVILLE -- A house fire that killed a Blytheville woman over the weekend was apparently caused by an electrical short, Blytheville Fire Chief Mike Carney said Monday.

Linda Diane White, 46, died in the fire at her home at 921 Anderson St. on Friday evening.

Carney said firefighters responded to the call in southeast Blytheville at 11 p.m. Friday. The fire began in a wall separating the kitchen from the living room, Carney said. The home had extensive fire damage.

Firefighters found White in a bedroom. Carney said an initial investigation indicates that she died of smoke inhalation.

"The early indications are that the fire was electrical," the chief said. "There does not appear to be any foul play."

Authorities sent White's body to the state Crime Laboratory on Monday for an autopsy.
