NLR district to fire football coach, attorney says

North Little Rock High School football coach Brad Bolding was given notice last week that the district intends to fire him, the coach's attorney said Wednesday.

Attorney David Couch said Bolding received notice under the Arkansas Teacher Fair Dismissal Act on Friday. The notice noted allegations involving equipment purchased by a private foundation and given to the North Little Rock School District. Also, a post made by Bolding on his personal Facebook page in December was called into question.

Bolding was not at the football team's national signing day event Wednesday morning and Couch said he hasn't been teaching.

Couch said that he and Bolding have 30 days from the date of termination to request a hearing with the school board.

"We don't have anything to hide," Couch said.

Gregg Thompson, director of human resources for the North Little Rock School District, said he couldn't say whether Bolding had been suspended or received notice of termination.

"At this point, no resolution has been reached," Thompson said of the matter. Bolding, 45, has gone 63-30 in eight years at North Little Rock. The Charging Wildcats finished 10-2 last season and won the 7A/6A-East Conference championship, but lost to Bentonville in the Class 7A semifinals.

North Little Rock Superintendent Kelly Rodgers could not be reached for comment.

Athletic Director Gary Davis declined comment Wednesday.
