Antiques Roadshow to visit LR

WHAT'S OLD IS NEW AGAIN ... PBS' longtime, popular series Antiques Roadshow, produced by WGBH Boston, is set to visit Little Rock in July as part of its six-city summer tour. The show, which airs locally at 7 p.m. Mondays on the Arkansas Educational Television Network, will hold an all-day appraisal event in the capital city on Saturday, July 25. Three episodes of the show's 20th season, airing in 2016, will feature some of the 5,000 to 6,000 appraisals expected to be made that day in Little Rock. Fans interested in winning a pair of tickets to the event can apply at pbs.org/antiques/tickets. Admission to the event is free, but tickets are required and must be obtained in advance. The deadline for applying for the chance to attend is 9:59 p.m. Monday, April 6. In past seasons, the show has visited Hot Springs and Memphis. More information can be found by visiting aetn.org or following the AETN blog at aetn.org/engage.

ROCKIN' THE ROCK: Arkansans will have the rare chance to see Todd Rundgren when he takes his Global Tour 2015 to Little Rock in April. While known for his hits "I Saw the Light," "Hello It's Me" and "Bang the Drum All Day," the musician also left his mark on rock music in the 1970s and 1980s as an engineer and/or producer of several noted albums. They include Badfinger's Straight Up, Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell, The Band's Stage Fright, New York Dolls' self-titled album, and XTC's Skylarking.

Rundgren is set to hold a show at the Rev Room, 300 President Clinton Ave., at 8 p.m. Sunday, April 19, with advance tickets priced at $35. Visit tinyurl.com/oakmhfa to buy tickets. He's also scheduled a symposium to be held the day before at the Clinton School of Public Service on the importance of music in education.

BY THE BOOK: Hot Springs native Kristin S. Kaufman, now of Dallas, is releasing her second book, Is This Seat Taken: It's Never Too Late to Find the Right Seat. In the book, published by Greenleaf Book Group Press and available at various retailers, she profiles 15 people -- some of them famous -- who found success later in life. The book encourages those questioning second chances to have the confidence to take action. Her first book, published by Brown Books in 2011 and titled, Is This Seat Taken? Random Encounters That Change Your Life, was a collection of her personal and professional experiences, the people who crossed her path and what Kaufman, a business executive, gave or received from encounters with them.

Kaufman, the daughter of Gretta and Joe Kaufman of Hot Springs, graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1979 and went on to attend the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. After working for several large corporations, Kaufman in 2009 founded her own company, Alignment, for which she offers leadership coaching, company development, and board and team retreats.
