Jacksonville man killed in stabbing

One man was stabbed to death and two others suffered serious stab wounds in their Jacksonville home Sunday morning, according to the Pulaski County sheriff's office.

Deputies arrested Marvin Algood, 55, of 1513 Phillips Drive in Jacksonville in the attack. Algood faces charges of first-degree murder and two counts of first-degree battery.

Authorities responded to a reported stabbing around 7 a.m. at 7025 Blanche St. in Jacksonville. There, deputies found Algood and the homeowner, Larry Starkey; Starkey's son, Jerry Starkey; and Jerry Starkey's girlfriend, Ashley Thompson, according to an arrest report.

Larry Starkey, 66; Jerry Starkey, 33; and Thompson, 33, had all been stabbed, the report states.

Larry Starkey had been stabbed multiple times. He was taken by ambulance to UAMS Medical Center, where he died soon after he arrived, according to the report.

Jerry Starkey was transported to Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock, and Thompson was taken to an undisclosed hospital.

Investigators questioned Algood, and then deputies took him to a hospital to receive treatment for a dog bite, said sheriff's office spokesman Lt. Carl Minden. The Starkeys' dog bit Algood, Minden said.

Algood was booked into Pulaski County jail Sunday night. His bail had not been set.

A motive for the attack was unknown Sunday.
