Police: Jonesboro man arrested after choking wife

JONESBORO — Northeastern Arkansas authorities have arrested a man accused of choking his wife with enough force that caused blood vessels in her eye to pop.

The Jonesboro Sun reported that the 43-year-old man from Jonesboro has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault on a family or household member.

Police say a child inside the couple's apartment called authorities to report the incident this month.

Officers said the victim told them she and her husband were arguing when he grabbed her and she tried to get away. She said he then began choking her with his arm around her neck.

A detective said the woman's left eye was red from the inner blood vessels bursting.
