Unusual speed limits on Airbase Highway confuse motorists

BLYTHEVILLE — Speed limit changes on the Airbase Highway between Blytheville and Gosnell have confused drivers.

The Blytheville Courier News reported that the new speed limit signs indicate the limit increases from 35 to 55 mph, and then decreases back to 50 mph.

Alan Walter of the Paragould district office for the highway department said confused drivers started calling his office on Friday. His office did not know why the signs were in that particular order since a separate crew is in charge of replacing them every 10 years.

Walter said that his office would check into the unusual sign order, and that they would likely remove the 50 mph sign.
