Central Arkansas offices closed amid sleet, snow

A winter storm warning from the National Weather Service has shuttered several offices across central Arkansas.

The sleet and snow alert will remain in effect across the central and southern parts of the state until 6 p.m. Monday.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced that all state offices in the Little Rock metropolitan area will be closed. The Little Rock School District is also closed, and a spokesman said parent teacher conferences will be rescheduled.

A Little Rock spokesman said Sunday night that the city had prepped 16 sand and salt trucks to treat roads in anticipation of the weather.

Meanwhile, many flights were canceled at the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock, and the state House and Senate both called off sessions for Monday.

CATA said it would delay the start of its bus service until 10 a.m. because of dangerous road conditions.
