Oscar-nominated actor Benedict Cumberbatch has married theater director Sophie Hunter, tying the knot in a Valentine’s Day ceremony on the Isle of Wight. Cumberbatch’s spokesman, Karon Maskill, confirmed that the couple had wed Saturday, surrounded by close family and friends. “It was a magical day,” Maskill said. The 38-year-old Cumberbatch rose to prominence with his modern-day portrayal of the cerebral sleuth in Sherlock. He has been nominated for an Oscar for his role in The Imitation Game as code-breaking genius Alan Turing, who helped win World War II by cracking Nazi codes but was later prosecuted for homosexuality and committed suicide. Hunter, 36, and Cumberbatch appeared together in the 2009 thriller Burlesque Fairytales. The couple, who announced their engagement with an item in the Times of London in November, said last month that they are expecting their first child.

Prince woke up early Saturday to share some love and hits on Valentine’s Day with a crowd that included Michael Jordan and Chris Rock. The pop icon performed an early-morning concert before a star-studded audience: Questlove, Rosario Dawson, Nas and Queen Latifah were among those dancing and singing to his rousing set at 23 Wall Street in downtown New York City. The performance celebrated the 30th anniversary of Jordan’s sneaker brand. Wendy Williams danced onstage behind the keyboards throughout the first half of the pop icon’s two-hour-plus show, and Prince selected celebrities to go onstage later in the set. Among them, Rock, Latifah, Questlove, BET executive Stephen Hill and Extra host A.J. Calloway danced to Michael Jackson’s “Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough.” An energetic Prince switched from guitar to keys and from singing to dancing, backed by singer Liv Warfield and female trio 3RDEYEGIRL. “How many hits we got?” he asked the crowd. “Do you know who I am?” He performed a number of popular songs, including “Controversy,” “1999,” “Little Red Corvette,” “Nothing Compares 2 U,” “Kiss” and “Hot Thing.” Those who tried to capture video or snap photos — including celebrities — were quickly stopped. At the end of the performance, after being urged by fans who yelled “Purple Rain,” Prince returned to the stage to close with the song.
