NLR man arrested in Sunday night stabbing

A North Little Rock man was stabbed Sunday evening in connection with a purported dispute over a woman, deputies say.

Authorities responded at about 10:57 p.m. to 9818 Firestone Lane after receiving report of a stabbing.

When deputies arrived, they found Michael Underwood, 40, with a half-inch long puncture wound to the middle left side of his back, according to a Pulaski County sheriff’s office report.

Underwood told police he was standing outside his house with his ex-girlfriend, Carrie Whidden, when Robert Arnett, 43, walked up to him and stabbed him in the back. Underwood told police that Arnett got into a red Blue Hill Wrecker Towing vehicle and left with Whidden.

Authorities located Arnett, who was uninjured, at 10315 Firestone Lane, and took him into custody.

He told deputies he had an altercation with Underwood about three days prior about Whidden, and he was picking her up from the home next door to Underwood’s. Arnett told officials Underwood walked up to his truck, so he started to kick him.

Deputies were unable to locate Widden.

Arnett was charged with first-degree battery and transported to the Pulaski County jail, where he is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
