FedEx broke ground on a new facility in Mabelvale on Thursday, company officials announced.
The new 300,000 square-foot FedEx Ground facility, located at 8 Industrial Parkway, will open August 2016, FedEx Ground spokesman Jesse Bull said in a news release.
The Mabelvale center will replace two smaller facilities in North Little Rock that the company has outgrown, Bull said.
Many employees from those facilities will transition to the new site, which will employee a total of 160 people, the email states.
Officials chose Mabelvale for the new location because of "its ease of access to major highways, proximity to customers’ distribution centers and a strong local community workforce for recruiting employees," Bull said.
