Central's balance tips West Memphis

WEST MEMPHIS -- Little Rock Central had three players with 12 or more points as the Lady Tigers blew past West Memphis 58-42 in a 7A/6A-East Conference game.

Kamry Orr, Kiara Williams and Alaysia Ready combined for 39 points and the Lady Tigers defense smothered West Memphis' shooters all afternoon.

West Memphis, playing without 6-4 junior center LaShala Saine, the team's third-leading scorer and leading rebounder, shot 27.2 percent from the field on 12-of-44 shooting.

The Lady Tigers (21-2, 10-1) were in control for most of the contest, leading by as much as 12 points in the first half before West Memphis (16-10, 6-6) made a brief run at Central in the third quarter.

After Williams hit a basket to give Central a 35-25 lead with 4:22 to play in the third quarter, West Memphis answered with a 9-0 run that trimmed the visitors' lead to 35-34.

Central allowed only two more field goals the rest of the way.

Ready, who scored 12 points, hit two consecutive shots to close out the third quarter and her teammates followed by scoring the first six points of the fourth quarter, giving the Lady Tigers a 45-34 advantage.

Without Saine inside, the Lady Tigers dominated the boards as they outrebounded West Memphis 35-22.

Orr paced Central with 14 points while Williams added 13.

West Memphis' Alexis Hamlet led all scorers with 27 points, and teammate Anquanetta Chatt scored nine.

CORNING 73, OSCEOLA 49 Shalina Casinger led the Lady Bobcats with 24 points in a 3A-3 semifinal victory over the Lady Seminoles in Manila. Natalie Price added 17 and Sadie Couch 11 for Corning, which led 39-23 at the half. Imani Fletcher scored 27 to lead Osceola.

ENGLAND 50, MAGNET COVE 34 Alesha Penister led the Lady Lions (24-6) with 16 points in a victory over the Lady Panthers in the 2A-5 Tournament championship game. Shavonta Blanks added 11 for England, which led 24-8 at the half. Karlie Galarza scored 13 to lead Magnet Cove.

FORDYCE 55, DREW CENTRAL 51 Lacie Hulse scored 17 points as the Lady Bugs outlasted the Lady Pirates in the championship game of the 3A-8 Tournament at Camden Harmony Grove. Alyssa English added 14 and Markeita Morris 11 for Fordyce. Cierra Gardner's 26 points led Drew Central.

HARRISON 65, GREENBRIER 51 Briley Due scored 16 points and the Lady Goblins (17-7) jumped on the Lady Panthers (18-7) early by hitting four three-pointers in the first quarter on their way to a 5A-West victory. Harrison led 22-8 after the first quarter and 37-18 at the half. Taylor Tate added 14 and Tiffany Brisco scored 12 for Harrison. Ali Skudlark led Greenbrier with 19 points, while Kenzie Batterton finished with 12 and Kory Westerman 11.

IZARD COUNTY 48, NORFORK 32 Sophomore Kennedy Cooper scored 21 points and the Lady Cougars (31-7) rallied from a three-point halftime deficit to post a victory over the Lady Panthers (26-10) in the 1A-2 North championship game in Brockwell. Kelcey Acklin led Norfork (26-10) with 10 points.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK 61, MARION 31 Amber Hawkins scored 19 points and Brogan Jones added 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Lady Charging Wildcats (23-2, 11-1) posted a 7A/6A-East victory over the Lady Patriots (7-17, 2-10). Sophomore Marie Hunter led Marion with 11 points. North Little Rock led 37-16 at the half.

RIVERCREST 70, HOXIE 48 Krystan Bornes scored 21 points and Jordan Elder had 17 as the Lady Colts (22-5) outran the Lady Mustangs in a 3A-3 semifinal game in Manila. Alaczia Brown added 11 for Rivercrest, which led 32-24 at the half. Devyn Pollard led Hoxie with 19 points while Bekah Kopp scored 10.
