Parolee apologizes for vandalizing vehicle, report says

A parolee immediately admitted vandalizing a vehicle when a policeman showed up and then apologized for doing it, according to a report.

Tia Harris, 40, was arrested shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday on a charge of criminal mischief, a Class C felony, which carries a sentence of three to 10 years and up to a $10,000 fine.

According to a Little Rock Police Department report, an officer responded to 11400 Mesa Drive and saw Harris leaning against a vehicle that had its windshield, rear window, passenger window and both headlights broken.

"As I exited my vehicle, [subject] said 'I'm ready, I did it, I'm sorry but she just sent me over the edge,'" the arresting officer wrote in the report.

The relation between Harris and the owner of the vehicle wasn't clear, and the report didn't specify what precipitated the vandalism. Police said Harris and the vehicle's owner at one point had a no-contact order issued, though authorities were trying to determine whether it was still active.

Online records show Harris is on parole through Sept. 22 and was convicted in 2013 of third-degree domestic battery.

Harris remained in the Pulaski County jail Monday morning with bail not yet set on the criminal mischief charge. She was also jailed on a parole hold.
