18-wheelers jackknife, cause delays on I-30 near Gurdon

Eastbound traffic on Interstate 30 is delayed near Gurdon because of two 18-wheelers that jackknifed on Wednesday afternoon, Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department officials say.

The two tractor-trailers slid off the interstate near mile marker 62 because of winter precipitation that has increased on roadways in the southwest part of the state, Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department spokesman Danny Straessle said.

A winter storm system has continued to cover the central and southern part of the state with snow and ice since earlier Wednesday morning.

The 18-wheelers are currently on each shoulder of the interstate and traffic is down to one lane between the two wrecked vehicles, Straessle said.

Crews are currently working to move the two semi-trailers off the interstate to open up all lanes of traffic again, according to Straessle.

Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler did not have any information regarding the wreck and a Clark County sheriff's office official didn't know if any injuries had been reported.
