Deltic Timber profit jumps in 4th quarter

Deltic Timber saw its fourth quarter net income rise to $3.5 million, or 28 cents per share, compared to $2.3 million and 18 cents per share a year ago.

The El Dorado-based timber and natural resources company said 2014 was its second best year for total annual income at $19.7 million, or $1.56 per share, down from the record year, 2013, when company's net income hit $20.3 million. In a statement released after markets closed Wednesday, Deltic attributed the 2014 income figure to increased residential lot sales and reduced expenses.

Deltic President and Chief Executive Officer Ray Dillon said the company sold 53 residential lots in the quarter, and its woodlands segment increased the amount of harvested pine. The company also saw increased sales of lumber and medium density fiberboard.

Deltic will hold a conference call at 10 a.m. today to discuss the quarter's results. Those interested in listening can call (800) 901-5241 and use the pass code 82134020. The call also can be accessed online at deltic.com.
