2 MARATHON

The streets of Little Rock become pedestrian-only as the Little Rock Marathon returns this weekend. The Marathon Health & Fitness Expo gets things going, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the Statehouse Convention Center. The 5K begins at 8 a.m. Saturday. The final mile of the Little Rockers Kids Marathon for ages 7-12 starts at 10 a.m. Saturday. The marathon, half-marathon and 10K start at 8 a.m. Sunday in downtown Little Rock. 3 MASTERWORKS

Israeli violinist Vadim Gluzman joins the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and conductor Philip Mann to play the Violin Concerto in D major, op.77, by Johannes Brahms at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Maumelle Performing Arts Center, 100 Victory Lane, Maumelle. Also on the Masterworks concert program: the Prelude to Die Meistersinger by Richard Wagner and Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 8 in b minor, "Unfinished." Complete a collection or start a new one at the Arkansas Glasshoppers' 29th annual Depression Era & Vintage Glass Show and Sale. Collectors and vendors will present antique and vintage glassware of all types, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday at the Hall of Industry, State Fairgrounds, Roosevelt Road and Howard Street in Little Rock. The mighty pen has its day at the Arkansas Pen and Watch Show, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel, 2 Riverfront Place, North Little Rock. Vendors from around the country will present collectible pens, pencils and watches and there will also be seminars on repair and inks. Master silversmith Henry Simpole will be in attendance. 7 "(THE ANGRY) MONK"

Americana slide guitarist and banjo player Tony Furtado will perform at 7:30 p.m. today at South on Main, 1304 Main St., Little Rock, under the auspices of The Oxford American. Opening act is Fayetteville-based Smokey & the Mirror, led by husband/wife team Bryan and Bernice Hembree, who founded and annually produce the Fayetteville Roots Festival and formerly led the folk group 3 Penny Acre. Russian classical guitarist Anton Baranov, winner of the 2013 Guitar Foundation of America Tour Prize, will give an Artspree recital at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall, Fine Arts Building, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, 2801 S. University Ave., Little Rock.
