Nashville man killed after SUV overturns in creek

A driver was killed Thursday when his sport utility vehicle overturned into a creek in Howard County, authorities said.

It happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. as David Elvin Parker, 41, of Nashville, was driving a 2006 Suzuki SUV west on Dillard Creek Road about a mile northeast of Mineral Springs.

Police say the vehicle went through a guardrail, hit a concrete embankment and then overturned into Dillard Creek.

Parker died at the scene.

The road was reported to be wet at the time of the single-vehicle crash.

The death was the 72nd in a traffic crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
