Light snowfall predicted across western, northern Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK — Meteorologists predict a small amount of snowfall across Arkansas before temperatures head for a weekend warmup.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for the much of the state as frozen precipitation moves in from Oklahoma. Western Arkansas could see up to one-tenth of an inch of snow Friday.

Meteorologist Julie Lesko said there shouldn't be major accumulation amounts for the snow that does stick. She says the far northern parts of Arkansas could receive up to an inch of snow on Saturday morning before temperatures start warming.

Temperatures Saturday should reach into the upper 20s for northern Arkansas and upper 30s for the central part of the state.

Lesko said temperatures are expected to gradually rise and could be in the 60s and 70s by Tuesday.
