BENTONVILLE -- A Rogers man was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to more than a dozen felony charges that involved a series of crimes.

Joseph Michael Marshall pleaded guilty to theft of property, two counts of theft of property, nine counts of commercial burglary, attempted commercial burglary and three counts of theft by receiving.

The plea came under an agreement attorney Billy Bobb Webb reached with Elizabeth Castleman.

Marshall, 19, was arrested eight times between January 2014 and April 2014. Some of his crimes occurred while he was free on bond.

He was arrested Jan. 24, 2014, in connection with having a stolen guitar and knives. The items were stolen in a burglary of a Rogers home.

He also was arrested Jan. 24 in connection with a Jan. 12 commercial burglary of The Dirty Wrench in Rogers. Two vehicles valued at more than $15,000 were stolen, according to court documents. Marshall admitted he and another person stole the vehicles.

Marshall was arrested Feb. 9, 2014, after police stopped him and some juveniles in a stolen vehicle, according to court documents.

Marshall admitted to breaking into My Cafe and Tubby's Barbershop in Lowell. Those crimes occurred Dec. 29, 2013.

He was arrested Feb. 10, 2014, in connection with a burglary at Happy Daze in Rogers. Marshall admitted breaking the front window and stealing items valued at more than $900, according to court documents.

Marshall was arrested a second time Feb. 10 in connection with two other commercial burglaries in Rogers. He admitted to breaking into Pupseria Salvadrena and Taqueria Real. Marshall said he and a juvenile stole cash registers, but they didn't get any money, according to court documents.

He was arrested Feb. 19 in connection with other commercial burglaries. Marshall admitted to committing Feb. 7, 2014, burglaries to Ozark Mountain Trading Co., Cannonball BBQ and Diamond Auto Sales. Marshall said he and two others broke into the car dealership, and then broke out the back window of the restaurant and searched for money, but didn't find any, according to court documents. They later broke into Ozark Trading and stole an Apple iPad and $205, according to a probable cause affidavit.

He was arrested March 27 in connection with the theft of a Lincoln MKX valued at more than $25,000 and Chevrolet Avalanche valued at more than $15,000, according to Castleman.

Castleman said she contacted the victims about the plea agreement. Some wanted Marshall to receive the maximum sentence, but others were understanding of the agreement.

"We kind of have a plethora of opinions about it," Castleman told Circuit Judge Brad Karren.

Castleman said law enforcement didn't object to the plea agreement.

Karren accepted the plea agreement and Marshall's guilty pleas.

Marshall was sentenced to 15 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction. He must abide by a suspended-sentence agreement for 10 years after his release from prison.

Marshall must pay $1,870 in court costs and $13,145 in restitution.
