Authorities say travel conditions deteriorating in Oklahoma

TULSA, Okla. — Forecasters say light to moderate snow will continue to fall throughout northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas into late Saturday.

The National Weather Service estimates Saturday between 1-3 inches of more snowfall is expected.

Meanwhile, authorities with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation warned that travel conditions would continue to deteriorate throughout the day, as overnight and early morning snowfall already covered many highways and interstates.

Northwest Oklahoma received 2-5 inches of snow Saturday, adding to the 2-4 inches those counties got Friday. Crews continue to plow and treat highways with a sand and salt mixture.

Unnecessary travel is discouraged. Black ice conditions will continue to be a concern in many areas of the state — especially as more freezing precipitation falls later Saturday.
