Cold front to drop temperatures considerably in Arkansas

NORTH LITTLE ROCK — A strong cold front is approaching Arkansas and is expected to push the state to its lowest temperatures of the season so far.

The National Weather Service said temperatures could reach the 30s during the day in southern parts of the state but should be below freezing statewide by sunset Wednesday. By Thursday, temperatures could be in the single digits in northern Arkansas and in the teens elsewhere.

Only flurries are expected — and most of those will occur in the north and northeastern parts of the state.

Winds at 25 mph, and higher gusts, will make the weather seem much colder. Wind chills could be near zero in north Arkansas and not much higher elsewhere.

A wind chill advisory has been posted for Northwest Arkansas for early Thursday.
