Memphis police are searching Friday for a pet Yorkshire terrier stolen from a Canadian couple’s truck Wednesday.
Officers were called about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday to the China Inn restaurant at 4430 Elvis Presley Blvd. in response to a vehicle burglary, Memphis Police Department spokesman Sgt. Karen Rudolph said in a statement.
There, officers learned that a couple visiting from Alberta, Canada, had left their 4-year-old Yorkshire terrier, Dixie, inside their Chevrolet Avalanche while they ate dinner at the China Inn, and once they returned, they found that their vehicle had been broken into and their pet stolen, Rudolph said.
The burglars are described as two black men driving a late-model gold or tan Nissan Altima or Maxima with a sunroof, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
