— The largest crowd of the season watched Bobby Portis put on a show for No. 23 Arkansas Saturday at Bud Walton Arena.

Portis scored a season-high 32 points as the Razorbacks beat Vanderbilt 82-70 in front of an announced crowd of 16,049 fans.

The sophomore added 11 rebounds to record his third double-double in five games. The Razorbacks (13-2) improved to 2-0 in SEC play for the first time since 2008.

Portis scored 21 points in the second half as Arkansas pulled away from the Commodores. Portis had four emphatic dunks, two of which came off steals he recorded at the top of the Razorbacks' relentless press defense.

He finished three points off his career-high, which was set last February in a game against Alabama. Portis became the fifth Arkansas player to record at least 32 points in multiple SEC games.

Arkansas forced Vanderbilt into 22 turnovers, converting the miscues into 31 points. The Razorbacks made 48 percent of their field goal attempts.

Michael Qualls added 20 points for Arkansas. Qualls had a high-flying dunk with 3:58 remaining to cap an 11-2 Arkansas run and give the Razorbacks a 15-point lead.

Vanderbilt stayed close by hitting 67 percent of its field goal attempts in the second half. After trailing by 10 points on multiple occasions, the Commodores pulled within 53-52 with under 10 minutes remaining, but couldn't get any closer.

Damian Jones and Matthew Fisher-Davis led Vanderbilt (11-4, 1-1 SEC) with 14 points each.

Arkansas forced Vanderbilt into eight turnovers in the first seven minutes of the game and didn't trail after the first 90 seconds of the first half. The Razorbacks led 36-28 at halftime.

Arkansas will travel to Tennessee on Tuesday looking to improve to 3-0 in conference play for the first time since 1998.
