Little Rock city director issues apology for DWI arrest

Little Rock City Director Ken Richardson issued a statement Monday apologizing for his drunk driving arrest over the weekend.

The letter — addressed to the mayor and his fellow city directors, but released to the media — said he regrets his actions and hopes to repair the damage they have caused to his reputation and that of the Board of Directors.

Richardson was arrested at about 9:40 p.m. Saturday after an officer observed him speeding and swerving his vehicle on South University Avenue. A breathalyzer test showed his blood alcohol content at over twice the legal limit.

His letter said he will get the help he needs and become a better person.

"In these days ahead, I humbly request your forgiveness, your prayers and your patience," he wrote.
