MEMPHIS — Prosecutors say a former bookkeeper at a suburban Shelby County high school has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $140,000 from the school.
Shelby County District Attorney Amy Weirich said in a statement Monday that 49-year-old Toni J. Cox entered a guilty plea to felony theft of more than $60,000.
Weirich has said auditors from the state comptroller's office found that $142,307 was missing from Arlington High School's funds between July 2008 and June 2010.
The auditors said Cox, a financial secretary, altered collection records from school organizations, activities and fees. She resigned in May 2010.
She is set to be sentenced Feb. 23.
