Southern Bancorp CEO appointed to LR tech park board

Darrin Williams, chief executive officer of Southern Bancorp Inc., was appointed Monday to the Little Rock Technology Park Authority Board.

Williams was appointed by Dr. Joel Anderson, chancellor of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, to replace Bob Johnson, Executive Director Brent Birch said in a news release.

Johnson resigned from the board on Nov. 14 last year, according to the release.

Williams, a former state representative, graduated from Hendrix College, earned a law degree from Vanderbilt University and a master's of law from Georgetown University Law Center. He is an attorney at Carney Williams Bates Pulliam & Bowman PLLC.

Anderson said he selected Williams for the board because of his leadership in the Little Rock community.

The authority is governed by a seven-member board appointed by UALR, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and the city of Little Rock, according to its website.
