Twinkies cut from Lefty's workout plan

Golfer Phil Mickelson is working out and following a gluten-free diet in order to shake off his first season since 2003 in which he did not win a tournament.

Phil Mickelson didn't win a tournament in the 2013-14 season, and it was the first time that happened since 2003.

As a result, it sounds like he's getting very serious about his fitness this winter.

"Phil's basically following a paleo diet, which is gluten-free, no sugars and no processed foods," said Mickelson's trainer Sean Cochran.

"I think it's how we were designed to eat. You have to wonder how a Twinkie can have a 5-year shelf life. That can't be good for your performance."

Mickelson also has been training and lifting weights a lot -- apparently over an hour a day. His current training regimen has been compared to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's.

"Everyone has moves they like more than others, but Phil is a very smart guy," said Cochran. "As long as he knows why he's doing a move, he'll do it, even if it's not his favorite."

Unique ticket

The Milwaukee Brewers have unveiled a special $1,000 ticket that's an investment in the club's future.

It's called a "timeless ticket." It's made of brass, personalized and limited to 1,000 fans, but those aren't the most important benefits. The Brewers' timeless ticket allows its owner one ticket to any future game of their choosing.

This unique opportunity allows the owner to redeem their timeless ticket for an actual ticket to any single future Brewers game at Miller Park, whether it's in 2015 or 2050, or if it's opening day or the seventh game of the World Series. Plus, the package includes ticket vouchers to attend nine additional Brewers regular-season games of the buyer's choice (excluding opening day and the postseason).

In order to redeem the special offer, the ticket owner should contact the Brewers box office with their unique timeless ticket information as well as photo identification and the date of the game he would like to attend. After redemption, the owner of the timeless ticket will keep the personalized brass statue to display.

No, no no

Wrote Dwight Perry of The Seattle Times: "So it's merely coincidence, then, that they're suddenly calling themselves the Nyets."
