Little Rock man arrested in woman's assault

A Little Rock man was arrested after assaulting a woman Thursday in her apartment, police say.

Police responded 7:14 p.m. to an assault in progress at Fair Park Gardens apartments at 1100 Fair Park Blvd. Officers heard a loud disturbance and woman’s voice yelling to call the police, according to a Little Rock Police Department report. There was no response to their knocks, so police kicked the door in to enter the apartment, the report states.

Oliver Williams, 27, was at arms' length from Lonisha Hood, 24, and police observed blood on his white shirt, according to the report. Hood had noticeable lacerations and abrasion on her face, arms, neck and back, police said.

Police ordered Williams to the ground at gunpoint. Upon searching him, they found what appeared to be narcotics, and upon searching the residence, police found a Ruger MK III .22 caliber pistol, which Hood said belonged to Williams, according to police.

Hood suffered minor injuries.
