Harrison escapes in overtime

Clutch shooting carried the visiting Harrison Goblins to a 79-71 overtime victory over the Little Rock Christian Warriors on Friday night.

It started when senior guard Silas Huskey hit a three-pointer with nine seconds left in regulation to pull Harrison even with at 67-67. Junior guard Isaiah Harper missed from 17 feet at the buzzer for the Warriors as the game went into overtime.

Clutch free-throw shooting in overtime sealed the Goblins' victory.

"We got a big shot from Silas to tie it up, and we feel really fortunate about that," Harrison Coach David Stahler said. "He's a gamer. He likes to go with the flow of the game, and we just like to let him do what he can do.

"I just knew he was going to make that shot," Christian Coach Austin Trembley said of Huskey's basket. "He is so clutch."

Harrison (12-4, 3-0 5A-West) hit 10 of 12 free-throw attempts in overtime, including 6 of 6 from senior guard Hunter Humphrey.

"When it got to be winning time, they just made the plays," Trembley said. "You have to give them credit for it."

Sophomore forward Alex North hit Harper in full stride for a layup off a long inbounds pass that gave the Warriors Christian a 66-62 lead with 33 seconds left in regulation.

Huskey's reverse layup in heavy traffic brought Harrison to within 66-64 with 22 seconds left.

Harper made one 0f two free throws with 19.3 seconds left to give the Warriors a 67-64 lead, but Huskey's three-pointer forced overtime.

The Warriors (4-9, 1-2) led by as much as 58-52 in the final two minutes after sophomore guard Andrew Robeson hit a three-pointer with 1:56 left.

"I think the biggest thing we're going to take from this is the way we held our composure," Stahler said. "We were down five or six with two minutes to go in the game, and our players didn't panic. They scored and they put some good pressure on them defensively."

Harper led all scorers with 34 points. Huskey led Harrison with 27.
