Sharon Neiser

Where I live: I moved to Bentonville in 1995. Wal-Mart had been recruiting me to come to Bentonville from Atlanta. We moved in the day after Christmas 1996. My husband and I have always built our houses. We met a builder named Arnold Lehman, and he convinced us to build in a subdivision called Hanover. This is our eighth custom-built house.

Occupation: Owner of Sharon B. Neiser Consulting LLC. I've been involved with retail since I graduated from college. I literally graduated on a Sunday and started with Macy's on a Monday morning. I've been in this field for 45 years. I've worked for several major retailers and I've done just about every job in retail. I now work with suppliers who sell to Wal-Mart and Sam's Club. I'm also heading up the fundraising for Scrabble Wars for the Literacy Council of Benton County.

My favorite space: My library.

Why? Myself and my little kitty cat, Sophie, like our time in the library. She knows when I'm headed there. She knows exactly what the routine is, and she follows me. She knows I'm going to get the afghan and grab a book. That's really my personal, private space. It's got all my books in it. It's got a chair that I really enjoy just chilling in. More than anything else, it's got photographs of family.

If I could do one thing to improve the space, I would: Get a new chair. My chair is 30 years old this year.
