Police: Bomb threat at Maumelle High false alarm

A bomb threat at Maumelle High School on Tuesday turned out to be a false alarm, officials said.

The school received the threat by phone, Maumelle Police Department spokesman Capt. Jim Hansard said.

The school executed its bomb threat plan by contacting police, Pulaski County Special School District spokesman Deb Roush said.

Police and the Maumelle Fire Department responded and searched the outside of the building first, then evacuated students for about 20 minutes while a search was conducted inside, Hansard said.

Students went back to class about 12:30 p.m., but Hansard said the department was unsure of what time the call came in Tuesday.

Police have no leads on who made the threat, but the investigation is ongoing, Hansard said.

Roush said she couldn't comment further because of the active police investigation.
