Authorities capture escaped Jefferson County inmates

Authorities in Jefferson County captured two escaped inmates Wednesday afternoon in Pine Bluff, the Jefferson County sheriff's office said.

Justin Cartwright, 24, and Corderro Foster, 26, escaped from the Jefferson County jail after being arrested by the Pine Bluff Police Department earlier in the day for aggravated robbery and theft by receiving charges, according to Maj. Lafayette Woods Jr., spokesman for the sheriff's office.

The two were sitting on a booking bench in the jail when they pushed past an officer moving another inmate to a different part of the jail, Woods said.

The men left the jail on foot and headed southeast on Third Avenue and State Street and were captured about 1:28 p.m. at a storage facility at 700 Georgia St., Woods said.

Pine Bluff police and Arkansas State Police assisted in capturing Cartwright and Foster.
