SAU invites public to meet president applicants

Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia will hold three receptions for the public to meet the applicants to be the university’s next president.

The SAU board of trustees picked the three applicants Jan. 8 for interview after receiving recommendations from the presidential search committee, the university said. The current SAU president, David Rankin, will retire June 30.

Each applicant is scheduled for a two-day interview session, which includes the public receptions.

The receptions are set as follows:

• 5-5:45 p.m. Feb. 2 with Phillip Wilson, the president of Rich Mountain Community College in Mena.

• 5-5:45 p.m. Feb. 4 with Trey Berry, the provost and vice president for academic affairs at SAU.

• 5-5:45 p.m. Feb. 9 with Cornelius Wooten, the vice president for administration and finance at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
