BASEBALL

11 UA games will be televised

Arkansas’ baseball team will have 49 of its 56 regular-season games broadcast in 2015, although less than one-fourth of those games will be shown on traditional TV.

The Razorbacks will have 11 games televised by either ESPN2, ESPNU or SEC Network. Thirty-eight other games will be shown on SEC Network Plus, a digital channel that must be viewed online.

All 15 of Arkansas’ conference games will be aired on one of the two platforms. Only one game played at Baum Stadium won’t be shown.

More than 450 games will be aired this season, including 80 on the SEC Network.

Arkansas begins preseason practices Friday at Baum Stadium.

GYMNASTICS

Arkansas’ Wellick earns honor

Arkansas sophomore Amanda Wellick, who capped the No. 12 Razorbacks’ come-from behind upset of No. 6 Alabama last week with a huge performance on the floor exercise, was named co-SEC gymnast of the week Tuesday.

Wellick, the SEC’s freshman of the year last season, shared the honor with LSU’s Jessie Jordan. The Wheaton, Ill., native scored a 9.95 on the floor to finish off Arkansas’ 196.325 to 196.175 victory, win the first floor exercise title of her career and cap her second all-around championship with a 39.475.

Wellick and the Razorbacks take on No. 19 Auburn at 7 p.m. Central Friday.

BOWLING

ASU joins bowling league

Arkansas State’s women’s bowling team will join seven other programs in the newly created Southland Bowling League.

ASU’s membership in the league, which will provide an automatic qualifying spot for the NCAA Championship, is effective immediately.

The Red Wolves will join Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Louisiana Tech, Monmouth University, Tulane, Valparaiso and Vanderbilt in the league. ASU is 51-17 and ranked third in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association poll. Sam Houston State (fifth), Vanderbilt (sixth) and Stephen F. Austin (eighth) are all ranked in the top 10, while Valparaiso (15th) and Tulane (20th) are also ranked.

The Southland Bowling League will not conduct regular-season competition, but will hold a single championship tournament. The 2015 event will be held at Del Mar Lanes in Houston on March 21-22. The league can qualify for an automatic NCAA bid no later than the 2017 national championship. Until then, members will be at-large candidates for the NCAA Championship.
