Feedback sought for low-income housing grant allocation

The state Consolidated Plan Advisory Committee has set public meetings next month to get feedback on how to use grant money.

Several state agencies want feedback from citizens on allocating about $26 million in grants to Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment Partnerships Program, Emergency Solutions Grant and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS, Arkansas Economic Development Commission Manager of Communications Scott Hardin said in a news release.

The funds will be used for the next program year that starts in July, Hardin said. The commission will also seek input on how to use funds for the next five years, according to the news release.

These programs provide services and resources to meet low-income housing needs, Hardin said.

The public meetings will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the following locations:

• Feb. 2 at the Arkansas Municipal League at 301 W. Second St. in North Little Rock

• Feb. 3 at the Fayetteville Public Library at 401 W. Mountain St.

• Feb. 4 at the Hope City Hall at 206 W. Ave. A.

• Feb. 5 at the Delta Conference Center at 8624 Bucksducks Road in Tillar.

• Feb. 6 at the Eugene Woods Civi Center at 212 W. Polk St. in West Memphis.

The committee will also accept feedback through an online survey that can be found here.

Written comments can be mailed to Arkansas Economic Development Commission, Attn.: Grants Management Division, 900 W. Capitol Ave., Suite 400, Little Rock, AR 72201, or emailed to JNoble@ArkansasEDC.com. The deadline for feedback is Feb. 20, according to the news release.
