The men of Phi Delta Theta at the University of Arkansas will present the third annual Fight for Brother Lou Gehrig fundraiser Feb. 7 at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center. Proceeds from the event will benefit the J. Thomas May Center for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Research at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.
Lou Gehrig was a member of Phi Delta Theta at Columbia University, and J. Thomas May -- Tommy -- a UA alum of the fraternity, was diagnosed with ALS in 2005.

The cocktail-attire event will feature cocktails and heavy hors d'oeuvres, silent auction and one surprise item available via live auction. Music will be provided by Fayetteville Jazz Collective, and the evening's program will include remarks from Phi Delta Theta members and Tommy May and a tribute to Gehrig.
Research areas at the center include testing and identifying therapeutic combinations, sometimes called "drug cocktails," measuring therapeutic effects, proteomic fingerprinting and stopping the progression of the disease.
