Input on I-30 planning study sought

As part of the state's largest highway construction initiative, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department is asking for the public’s input on its Interstate 30 planning and environmental linkages study.

The study, which is part of the department’s Connecting Arkansas Program, explores the transportation needs and potential improvements for I-30 from I-40 to I-530, including the Arkansas River Bridge, and I-40 from JFK Boulevard to U.S. 67.

The program was started to improve the state’s intermodal transportation system, including the widening and improvement of about 200 miles of highways and interstates.

Officials will present the evaluation of the preliminary alternatives that were presented in a public meeting in November, and will discuss reasonable alternatives that will be carried forward to the next level of analysis.

The meeting will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Friendly Chapel Church of Nazarene gym, 116 S. Pine St. in North Little Rock. The public is invited to ask questions, view displays and provide input on the study.
