**Things to like

***Plenty to like

****Confident choice

1 Purse $18,000, 6 furlongs, 4-year-olds and up who have never won 2 races, Arkansas-bred, claiming $10,000.

***SUSPECTING GOLD showed early speed in a maiden victory last March at Oaklawn, and the freshened runner shows a series of good works for a trainer who excels with returnees. REINFORCE easily defeated "open" maiden claimers last season at Louisiana Downs, and he benefits from competitive recent racing at Remington. GUSKA MON SHOES was beaten a neck after a similar layoff last winter at Oaklawn, and he has experience on a wet track.

*STAR TOUR seems a tad short on class, but she destroyed $10,000 claimers in her last start at Remington and her big local work Jan. 16 suggests she is holding form. SHE'SABREES won her past three races at Remington Park, including a second-level allowance field, and she keeps regular rider Cliff Berry. WHAT LOLA WANTS finished first or second in 14 of 15 races in 2014, and the remarkably consistent and versatile mare excels on a wet track.

3 Purse $22,500, 1 mile, fillies & mares, 3-year-olds and up, maiden claiming $25,000.

***COZZY STREET has earned the fastest Beyer figures while competing in maiden allowance races in Kentucky, and she has two-turn experience and a wet-track pedigree. CULEBRITA finished fourth in both of her sprint races as a 2-year-old, and her local works are good and she may be able to carry her speed from gate to wire. ANGEL LOVELY was forwardly placed in a second-place two-turn finish at Delta Downs, which came over a wet track, and trainer Chris Richard figures to heat up soon.

4 Purse $18,300, 5 1/2 furlongs, 4-year-olds and up, claiming $6,250.

**GENTLEMANS CODE withstood pace pressure in consecutive sprint victories at Hawthorne, and his ability to handle any and every surface provides him a slight edge. PRAIRIE GOLD is a neck from having a four-race winning streak, and his most recent was an entry-level allowance score at Delta Downs. BAD BOY PETER easily defeated conditioned claimers at Hawthorne in a fast clocking, and he may be the speed of the speed and deserves a look at nice odds.

5 Purse $22,500, 6 furlongs, fillies, 3-year-olds, maiden claiming $25,000.

**KNOTTY WILD GIRL appears to have an early speed advantage, and she may not stop in her first race in a maiden-claiming field. READY'S SCHEDULE finished third over a wet track when closing her Remington Park meeting, and the lightly raced filly has worked well at Oaklawn and has Hall of Fame connections. MS MORRIS CODE was beaten by a head in her only wet-track race at Remington, and the Oklahoma-bred filly is dropping out of maiden allowance races for the first time.

6 Purse $28,000, 6 furlongs, 4-year-olds & up, starter allowance.

***PETEIZUM has been a dominating winner in three of his past four races while earning Beyer figures that are clearly fastest, and he handles a wet track. STARTER defeated starter allowance rivals over a muddy track last fall at Keeneland, and the Fair Grounds invader recorded a sharp work over this track Jan. 17. MR. RIGHT broke his maiden on a muddy track at Aqueduct, and the Steve Asmussen trainee benefits from a recent race in New Orleans.

7 Purse $60,000, 1 1/16 miles, 3-year-olds, maiden special weight.

***KANTUNE has lost a late lead in three of his five main-track races at Santa Anita and Del Mar, but he appears to hold a talent advantage and the experienced two-turn colt has winning connections. MR. TICKLE had to overcome an outside post when third in his first try around two turns at Churchill, and he is adding blinkers and his only wet track work was a good one back in October. HILLBILLY STYLE finished with energy in two runner-up finishes at Churchill, previous to an even stakes effort at Remington, and the Lukas trainee is back in a maiden race and having blinkers removed.

**ELECTRIC TEMPTRESS has raced well as a two-time beaten favorite at this condition while racing at Fair Grounds and Churchill, and the three-time winner has earned the fastest Beyer figures. THE COLUMBIAN GIRL followed a determined maiden-allowance victory with a front-running second-place allowance finish at Woodbine, and she recorded an encouraging 5-furlong breeze Jan. 12 and picks up the leading rider. HARMONY PLACE finished her 2014 season with a clear $40,000 claiming victory at Keeneland, and she is another three-time winner with competitive Beyer figures.

****HOLY BOSS was impressive in a 10-length debut victory last September at Churchill, and he can be excused for fading after being pressured through fast fractions in the Grade I Champagne. He drew well for a sprinter with speed and figures to recapture his winning ways. HIDDEN DANGER followed a runner-up maiden allowance finish at Keeneland with a game victory at Churchill, and he possesses good early speed and trainer Wayne Catalano is off to a good start. SUBTLE INDIAN easily defeated maidens in his debut last June at Canterbury. He figures to be stronger and faster as a 3-year-old, and trainer Diodoro has a high win percentage with horses returning from vacation time.

EXOTIC WAGER POSSIBILITIES

Arkansas Democrat-Gazette handicapper Rick Lee seeks out horses who make good "key" horses in multi-horse and/or multi-race wagers, commonly called exotic wagers.

I like the first race as a trifecta or superfecta wager because I like a horse who may not go favored and the first consists of 11 runners, and there seems to be a few runners that can be taken out of consideration for an in-the-money finish. The late 50-cent Pick 4 is once again an attractive play because the field sizes are good, and I may not have to invest as much with a solid "single" in the ninth race and lesser contention than has been the norm in the first three races.
