Gun deal gone wrong leaves LR man dead, another injured

Police are looking for three men in the slaying of one Little Rock man and the shooting of another Saturday night, police reported.

The two victims had arranged to buy a firearm from someone they met on Facebook, according to a police report. During the transaction, about 10:30 p.m., three people stole their cash and shot each of them multiple times.

Someone called police after seeing the victims -- later identified as Angel Gonzalez and Uriel Costilla-Mata -- lying in the shoulder of the street in front of U-Pull-It, 10312 Baseline Road.

Police said there was a "large amount of blood," and Gonzalez, 30, couldn't answer officers' questions. Gonzalez was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock, where he was pronounced dead about 11 p.m.

Costilla-Mata, 20, told police about the transaction and said he and Gonzalez were shot by three unknown black men who fled in a white Cadillac.

Costilla-Mata was transported to UAMS Medical Center. He was in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery, according to the report.

Police spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen said Sunday that no one was in custody and police had not identified the shooters.

Gonzalez's death was Little Rock's second homicide of the year.
