Memphis shooting death investigated

Memphis police are investigating after a Sunday night shooting left a man dead.

Officers responded about 8 p.m. to a call at 5255 Bucksport Lane, northwest of the intersection of Winchester and South Mendenhall roads, where they found a 25-year-old man lying on the floor inside the home, the Memphis Police Department said in a statement.

The man, whom police didn’t identify, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the shooter — described as a black man, 25 years old, 5 foot 10 and driving a silver Chevrolet Impala who was “known to the victim” — is “not in custody at this time.”

No arrests have been made “at this point,” police said, adding that the investigating is ongoing.
